Billa II Review

Billa II Official Poster

Billa II been released worldwide on 13th July 2012 in more than 2500 theaters. Billa II is about how an ordinary man becomes an international don who originally came to Tamil Nadu as refugee and his previous life that filled with suffering. Billa II starring Ajith Kumar, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Bruna Abdullah, Vidyut Jamwal, Manoj K. Jayan, Sudhanshu Pandey and more. Director Chakri Toleti has written the script with Era Murukan and Jaffer Mohammed. The visual sense of the film really adds credits to the movie with many awesome angles and shots; R.D. Rajasekhar handled camera for Billa II.

The first part of the film is has been handled very persist by the team. The first part is about the intro of David Billa who came as refugee and how he build up his status; there are very less dialogs but still the screenplay never gave a boring impact to the audience. Suresh Urs has done a good job as Editor by make sure the part is not boring; showing every movement of David Billa very impressive with R. D. Rajasekhar’s wonderful visuals. Of course the Art Director V. Selvakumar played very important role in the movie especially in the first part; the location and set which used to place the refugees is very realistic. Even there are very less dialogs in the movie but the lines short and catchy especially David Billa’s dialogs and of course the credits goes to Unnaipol Oruvan fame Jaffer Muhammed.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored songs and background music for Billa II. As usual, Yuvan make a unique music for the film. His background scores really supporting the scenes to get impression from the audience. Seems, the movie has very minimum dialogs so the background scores plays important portion to fulfill the necessariesThe team has decided to make an continuity between Billa and Billa II, so theme music also inspires from Billa theme music. So, the audience can understand the continuity of the two stories. Some other aspects in the movie also purposely mentioned for the continuity; David Billa tells Jasmine that everything has been prepared in Malaysia and ask her to go there because Billa story written by Vishnuvardhan entirely based in Malaysia and also Rahman's guest appearance at the Palace of Georgia.

After the interval, Billa II screenplay continue with how David Billa become a don by facing his enemies from inside and outside of the country; from politics, underground world, police, friends and more. So the second part is about how David Billa dominating the underground world and how overcoming his enemies. In this part David Billa start exploring to international smugglers; many exotic locations were placed in the second part of the movie. A lot of shots that includes violence and crimes were visualized very well. Locations were selected for this movie is very unique and suitable for the subjects; such as Palace of Georgia, Goa, and the climax location.

Palace of Georgia scenes adds credit to the film. Director Chakri Toleti and his team had made a great effort to visualize the scene there with the cold weather. Really need thank the Indian Government for their support towards Billa II team by granted the special permission from the Government of Georgia for having shooting there behalf the film crew. Seems, the palace is personal residential area of Georgia’s president; need to thank them too for their willingness. Same goes to the climax location; the villain’s weapon factory scenes are really bombastic with gun shots with train blast sequence. Ajith sir has done a great effort to make the climax fight scene by hanging on the helicopter without using other stunt master; no wonder Ajith sir dare to make stunt  by his own in his movies to make the shot realistic; bike stunt in mankatha, car stunt in Billa and Asal.

Its nearly took 6 months for the post production work of Billa II and the result can see in the movie very well. The dry colour tone of the movie surely gives the right feeling to the audience; specially the past of David Billa giving the flashback feeling to the audience by the sepia and dry tone with wonderful colour correction.  The VFX team also has done amazing work in the movie. VFX Supervisor Madhu Sudhanan and his team surely add value to the movie especially fight scenes and also Unakkulle Mirugam song visual. The gun fires and train blast are realistic. VFX team also has brought a great idea to visualize the Unakkulle Mirugam song. The semi-animated visual for Unakkulle Mirugam song looks like Billa II's montages at the same time.

Billa II is an international standard movie in many aspects; acting, visuals, locations, stunts, and last but not least the story and screenplay as backbone of the movie. The movie is produced by Sunir Kheterpal, Suresh Balaje and George Pius under the banner Wide Angle Creations and IN Entertainment.
